Uber recently announced the launch of a new in-app and platform ad network. Uber plans to show customers ads from other companies before and during rides, in corporate emails, on Uber Eats, on car rooftops, and is even testing ads on back-seat tablet screens. One of the first great steps was to send Peloton ads via push notifications in the iOS app. Yes, yes, through the same notifications that tell us about approaching cars or other important things. And it seems that even this is directly allowed in Apple’s guidelines, but systemically it looks like complete idiocy.
