Mobile Pixels prepares foldable Geminos monitors

Mobile Pixels is currently crowdfunding a new line of foldable Geminos dual-screen clamshell displays that offer an interesting alternative for people looking to replace a side-by-side monitor setup.

Both Geminos and Geminos X feature built-in speakers, a 1080p webcam, and a docking station with two HDMI ports, two USB-A ports, standard 3.5mm audio jack, Ethernet port, TF/SD card reader, and USB-C with Pass-through charging up to 100W.

Both monitors use two 24-inch center-hinged displays with an adjustable stand, although the Geminos is 1080p at 60Hz and 250 nits, while the Geminos X bumps it up to 1440p at 75Hz and 300 nits. So the basic specs of the Geminos are fine for everyday work, but the 1440p resolution on the Geminos X will be better if you enjoy watching or creating content.

Both displays can be connected with the same cable (assuming you’ve installed the driver), which means laptops like the MacBook Air, usually limited to only one extra display output, will be able to use both displays.

The project was announced on Kickstarter on July 20 and quickly gained the attention of interested users, reaching its original goal of $25,000 in just 36 minutes and has now raised over $1.6 million. The campaign will run until September 3rd.
