Google has released a training course on generative artificial intelligence. This is a “free” stream that will introduce you to what Generative AI is, how it is used, and how it differs from traditional machine learning methods.
Generative AI is all around us. It is a type of AI that can determine long-range dependencies and patterns on large training sets and then use the knowledge gained to create new content, including text, images, audio, and synthetic data.
The program consists of 10 training streams.
- Introduction to Generative AI
- Introduction to Large Language Models
- Introduction to Responsible AI
- Fundamentals of Generative AI
- Introduction to Image Generation
- Architecture Encoder-Decoder
- Attention Mechanism
- Transformer Models and BERT Model
- Creating Image Description Models
- Introduction to Generative AI Studio
It is desirable to have an initial level of knowledge of Python and knowledge of Tensorflow.
Now let’s get back to the “free” issue. The FAQ says: “For most courses, you will be able to use course materials, such as videos and documents, for free. If the course consists of labs, you will need to purchase individual subscriptions or credits to be able to use such materials. Labs can also be unlocked through any campaigns you participate in. To receive a course completion badge, you must complete all required tasks.”
This means that static resources in the form of videos and text are free, while those that require practice are not. Labs require connection of GCP (Google Cloud Platform) computing resources and cost several credits. There are four such labs in total.
