CapCut revenue exceeded $1 million

CapCut is a video editing app from TikTok. It launched as a free app back in 2020 and quickly became a threat to an industry that makes millions. A few months ago, CapCut introduced a new Pro subscription that adds more editing features + the ability to store more files in its cloud.

CapCut’s revenue crossed a major milestone in February, just five months after the paid subscription launched.

In February, CapCut’s App Store net revenue exceeded $1 million for the first time, up 25% from the previous month.

Of course, CapCut is not in the lead yet. Splice, the leader, earned over $4 million in net App Store revenue in February. But the gap between them is not as great as it seems. GoPro Quick, VideoLeap and Prequel, popular video editors that rank below Splice and above CapCut, made less than $2 million in net income in February, according to AppFigures.

Considering CapCut’s download count is vastly superior to all competitors , it’s only a matter of time before the Chinese video editor overtakes them. And when that happens, there will be no going back.
