Candy Crush made $20 billion
King attributes its huge success to several factors, including not only the games themselves, but also the company’s commitment to creating a diverse culture that fosters creativity.

King announced that its Candy Crush franchise has reached $20 billion in earnings for its 20th anniversary.
“Reaching our 20th anniversary is a testament to the incredible passion and dedication of the entire King team to our mission of making the world playable,” said King president Tjodolf Sommestad.
“Going forward, we will continue to strive to make our games the best they can be and give players more of what they want. With a successful history and a brilliant future ahead of us, King is looking forward to more years of exciting gameplay and unforgettable moments for our players.”
The company currently has over 200 million monthly active players. Candy Crush Saga is one of the most successful mobile games in the world and the entire Candy Crush franchise has more than 5 billion downloads, further emphasizing the astounding success of the series and its place at the pinnacle of the match-3 genre.
Continued investment in the franchise, including the recent All-Stars Tournament and game shows, has helped the game stay in the spotlight, and King reports that the cumulative distance traveled by Candy Crush swipes over the past five years is nearly equal to circling the globe seven times.
Candy Crush celebrated its tenth anniversary in April, and the game will soon feature 15,000 levels, with the honor of designing this milestone going to the team’s new designers.
King attributes its huge success to several factors, including not only the games themselves, but also the company’s commitment to creating a diverse culture that fosters creativity. Going forward, King intends to harness the power of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and explore how these innovations can improve the player experience and make gameplay and design more engaging, responsive and adaptive.
