$18 mln: Coherence – Cloud multiplayer platform

Cloud multiplayer platform Coherence has raised $8M in a new round.

Coherence was founded by former Playdead CEO and co-founder Dino Patti in 2018, with former employees of Supercell, Radical Entertainment, DeNA and others among the company’s executives.

Coherence is building a cloud platform for multiplayer gaming. The company offers a full-featured set of multiplayer gaming tools, everything you need to develop, test, and launch games.

Run virtual worlds, board games, or a combination of both in the cloud and on bare metal. The Unity SDK makes prototyping, developing, deploying, and sharing games fast, fun, and automatically scalable.

The platform is currently available in alpha by invitation only.

The funding will be used to support the team and expand it as it grows and implements its technology.

“Real-time multiplayer games still have a lot of untapped potential,” said Dino Patti. “There are so many hurdles when it comes to making multiplayer games that can effectively halt the creative process early on in game development. We want to overcome these barriers and this new round of funding will help us fulfill that mission.”
