New Moments app helps maintain personal and professional relationships

Moments builds on that desire to remember to stay in touch, but offers a lot more tools.

‎Moments — A Personal CRM

You’ve probably heard of CRM, but have you heard of PRM – Personal Relationship Manager? That’s the concept behind the recently launched Moments app for iOS, which is designed to help people maintain the relationships that matter most to them, both personal and professional, by offering tips, reminders and tasks, among other things. The app also has artificial intelligence built into it to help compose personalized messages and emails tailored to your contacts.

The idea of a personalized relationship manager is not new. Other apps offer similar tools, such as Clay, which this year added its own artificial intelligence assistant. Another app, Catchup, launched last month to help people remember to communicate with their friends and family. This problem is becoming increasingly common in the age of social media, where scrolling through feeds and Stories makes us feel like we’re still in touch with people, when in fact we haven’t actually contacted them directly.

The Moments project was inspired by such frustration. Developer Robert Keus had previously launched Scheduled, an app that allowed iOS users to prepare iMessage messages they wanted to send later – he came up with it after forgetting to wish a friend a happy birthday. Moments builds on that desire to remember to stay in touch, but offers a lot more tools.

To use the app, you first need to add the names of people you want to keep in touch with. You can categorize them by group: family, work, friends, etc., as well as by importance. Moments will then take care of reminding you to contact them by creating a social to-do list. You can choose the frequency of the reminders, which will come as push notifications.

To take action, you need to tap on the reminder and you will be taken to a screen where you can compose a message using the social app of your choice, make a call, postpone or dismiss the reminder as you see fit. If you’re not sure what to say, the app’s built-in AI assistant can help you compose personalized messages and emails tailored to each of your contacts’ interests.

Moments also lets you add notes for each contact or set up special events, much like a professional CRM system, and even sync your contacts with HubSpot CRM.

However, the app aims to be more than just a utility.

Moments has a variety of tools built in to help users improve their social skills through what it calls Learn To-Dos. These are prompts and suggestions that are designed to help the user improve their social skills.

“For example, it might be a suggestion to give a compliment or ask for advice. There are courses attached to these tasks that explain why these small actions can have a big impact on your relationship,” Keus explains.

The app also sends a weekly digest that schedules your social tasks for the coming days.

Moments is a freemium product as you can use up to 20 contacts for free, including access to tutorials. For more than 20 contacts, the app offers a subscription for $3.99 per month. The cost is reduced for those who subscribe six or 12 months in advance.

The app is self-funded and being built by Keus’ agency team, Brthrs Agency, and one outside developer. He notes that all of the developers involved in creating the app are women.

Moments is currently only available for iOS, but Keus says an Android release is planned for the first quarter of 2023.
