Apple introduced Quick Look back in 2007 — a tool to quickly preview documents like PDFs, CSVs, text files, and images, in addition to Microsoft Office and iWork suite files, without needing to open the related application to view the file.
In 2018, with the launch of ARKit 2, Apple expanded Quick Look for augmented reality (AR) applications, giving it capabilities to preview augmented-reality content and share them just like any other document. This is made possible by USDZ, which is a new file format for rendering AR Models.
